KÉSZ Group's objective is to become an internationally recognized group of construction companies, which is a market-leader in several ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) dimensions by means of utilization of synergies and close cooperation with the partners.

A successful, sustainable future can be realized with continuous development and the inclusion of new perspectives. As a responsible company and Hungary's dominant construction operator, KÉSZ Group lays a special emphasis on its active contribution to sustainable development and establishment of its strategy and improvement of its competitiveness on the long run by integrating economic, environmental and social aspects. We welcome that several large operators of the industry handle sustainability as a priority and believe that we also inspire many operators on our way. In order to achieve real change, industry cooperation is necessary.

Sustainable strategy of KÉSZ Group

The strategy development was preceded by ESG-based situation analysis, benchmark analysis, materiality analisys and carbon footprint calculation.

We, at KÉSZ Group are constantly work for improving our operation and processes using innovative solutions and technologies. In 2022 we established an overall and long-term sustainability strategy complying with ESG aspects in which we make numerical commitments - among others - for example to reduce emissions but we also involve also our suppliers and partners in achieving the goals we set.

Our sustainability strategy includes more than 30 member companies and strategic partners and our overall, very detailed and consolidated ESG report will be prepared with similar care. Owing to our wide portfolio, several other industries are affected in addition to the construction industry, such as energy, industrial technologies or electrical industry.

ESG ASPECTS AT KÉSZ GROUP

Our sustainability strategy effective until 2030 is built on three pillars:

We are aware of our responsibility towards our external and internal stakeholders (including in particular our employees), so prior to setting up a strategy and preparing the ESG report we made a situation analysis and assessment by preparation of a so-called "materiality analisys". So we have examined the effects of our activity on the environment and society involving our stakeholders and we determined the key topical domains, action lines and goals within the individual pillars by the analysis thereof.

Partnership, digitalization and innovation are of key importance in implementation of our sustainability strategy, so we work in close cooperation with the various branches, member companies and strategic partners of the Group in order to achieve the set goals successfully as soon as possible. Based on the various ESG aspects, we determined the following tasks for the Group:

ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS
  • By 2030 reduction of carbon-dioxide emission by 50% in the field of direct and indirect greenhouse gas emission compared to the 2019 level
  • By 2030 increase in energy efficiency by 25%
  • Providing all (100% of) electric energy supply from renewing energy sources
  • By 2030 the company will replace two-third of its vehicles by hybrid ones, increasing the proportion of electric cars and reduce carbon-dioxide emission from fuel by 50%
  • Construction of a new carbon neutral office building
  • Achieving at least BREEAM Excellent/LEED Gold/WELL Platinum qualification and compliance with the EU Taxonomy for domestic office building of own development
  • Increase of the non-hazardous waste recycling proportion to 75% in compliance with the change-over to circular economy

CHANGE OF APPROACH AT THE GROUP

Continuing the 2021 initiative, KÉSZ Group launched a large-scale sustainability campaign named KÉSZ Next. It is aimed at giving the sustainability aspects a more and more emphasized role in the industry and in our Group's life, and to integrate them in the company's business strategy and our corporate culture.

By means of the sustainability program, our objective is also to establish such a community in which not only the above principles prevail and become integrated but also our employees may utilize what they learned also in their home life. In addition to useful information, our employees may meet also a lot of activities continuously in the framework of the program. We have organized - among others - a sustainability stand up comedy performance with participation of Gergő Litkai and Bence Máté, an apple day, a movie club, donation collections etc., moreover, we cooperated with Malta Manufactory and launched our Green Office program. These are only a few examples from the repertoire of the KÉSZ Next program operated throughout the year.

The main focus of the campaign is to achieve that we can move to a more sustainable direction in more and more areas on both group and individual levels and to support our employees in this, to make everybody aware of our objectives and to introduce our means by which we can achieve this. The slogan and logo of the sustainability program truly reflect the above: "Let’s start tomorrow today. Let’s set off together towards a responsible future."
