KÉSZ Group builds Hungary's newest pharmaceutical investment

CEVA-PHYLAXIA's new plant to be built in Monor

KÉSZ Group's general contractor KÉSZ Építő Plc. has won the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) tender for the complete implementation of the project for the expansion of the Ceva-Phylaxia Oltóanyagtermelő Plc. site in Monor. Ceva is the 5th largest animal health company in the world and currently produces 70 billion doses of vaccines per year in Hungary, which is expected to increase to 80 billion doses after the development. In parallel, the creation of 120 new jobs will strengthen the economic competitiveness of the region in the coming years.

The new plant under construction will produce multicomponent inactivated vaccines and fermented antigens for animals to prevent various infectious diseases. The investment contract was signed on 11 November 2024 between Ceva and KÉSZ Építő plc., with a preliminary estimated value of EUR 40 million and an expected duration of 2 years.

"For KÉSZ Group, investments that, in addition to their domestic importance, will later strengthen the position of the company in the region and internationally are of particular importance. Our client Ceva-Phylaxia will be able to further increase its international presence in the animal health market with the new production facilities, all from the Hungarian production unit, supplying vaccines to all parts of the world. And professionally, it strengthens our Group's experience in a new industry, which is always an exciting challenge for us," said László Huszti, member of the Board of Directors of KÉSZ Építő Plc.

In addition to the traditional documentation, the engineers involved in the project have already compiled both the design and construction costs by looking at the BIM model. For KÉSZ Építő Plc. this is a real challenge given the structure of the project, as they are already very experienced in the construction of everything from piling, precast reinforced concrete structures, shells, sandwich panels, roads and utilities. Several member companies and strategic partners of the Group will be involved in the construction, including bim.GROUP for the design and DVB and KÉSZ Építő Plc.’s industrial flooring team for the construction.

The investment is aimed at the existing Ceva-Phylaxia Oltóanyagtermelő Plc. Monor Csévharaszti road site by constructing a new plant building (MFF) and an associated energy building (CUB). The greenfield project will consist of 2 new buildings with clean rooms of category "B-C-D" and "BSL2", where antigen production technology will be transferred to the new production area in order to increase production capacity.

Work on the project started on 14 November with a design kick-off meeting and a ground-breaking ceremony. The event was attended by Jonathan Lacôte, Ambassador-designate of France to Hungary, Dr. Boglárka Illés, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Véronique Kodjo, Executive Vice President of Ceva, Dr. Tamás Szamkó, CEO of Ceva Hungary, Gergely Karbuczky, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of HIPA, Kálmán Darázsi, Mayor of Monor and Tibor Pogácsás, State Secretary and Member of Parliament for the region.
