MA-HARD Hajózási és Vízépítő Kft., a subsidiary of KÉSZ Group, has been awarded the contract to modernize the port of Fonyód. As part of the nearly HUF 600 million investment, the embankment will be completely renovated, the pier promenade and lighting will be modernized, and new community spaces, rest areas, green spaces, tree-lined avenues, and playgrounds will be created, transforming one of the most important ports on Lake Balaton South into a modern and attractive center.

A new era is beginning in one of the most important and beautiful ports on Lake Balaton: large-scale reconstruction and modernization is underway at the port of Fonyód. The work will be carried out by MA-HARD Hajózási és Vízépítő Kft., one of Hungary's leading hydraulic engineering companies and a subsidiary of KÉSZ Group. The aim of the HUF 597 million investment is to ensure that the port not only serves the needs of shipping to a high standard, but also becomes a real community and tourist center. As part of the development, the embankments will be completely renovated, the piers will be modernized, and the promenade and central port area will be enriched with new functions and green spaces.

A long history and extensive experience

MA-HARD Kft., a leading player in the field of hydraulic engineering projects at the national level, has already proven its expertise in several port development, quay wall reinforcement and dredging projects on Lake Balaton, Lake Velence and Lake Fertő.

KÉSZ Group is shaping the future of domestic port construction in close cooperation with its strategic partners, including Mahart Tiszayacht Kft. Mahart Tiszayacht plays a key role in the manufacture and installation of floating structures, jetties and pier elements, while MA-HARD provides complex hydraulic engineering services.

Spectacular renewal on the shores of Lake Balaton

As part of the 6,000 square meter development, a new 35-meter-long harbor wall will be built with steel sheet piles, and the pier promenade will be raised and equipped with new paving, lighting, and rest areas. The central square will be resurfaced and pavilions will be built to serve tourist and community functions. In addition, the pier head's lookout and terrace will be completely renovated, and the port environment will be made more attractive to everyone with newly planted trees, modern community spaces, playgrounds, drinking fountains, and a bicycle station.

"KÉSZ Group has been a key player in the Hungarian construction industry for more than 40 years. Water construction and port development occupy a prominent place in the Group's strategy, with significant projects being implemented nationwide through close cooperation with MA-HARD Kft. The development in Fonyód is the latest proof that Lake Balaton and Hungary's waterfronts will continue to welcome visitors with high-quality infrastructure in the future," said Attila Pappert, head of KÉSZ Group's Water Construction and Hydraulic Engineering Business Line and managing director of MA-HARD Hajózási és Vízépítő Kft.

The investment is good news for boaters, tourists and the local community visiting Lake Balaton. As a result of the development, visitors will enjoy a modern environment, safe port infrastructure and new community and recreational spaces.
