Exhibition of masterpieces from the KASZ+ 2023 Creative Workshop opens in Helsinki

An exhibition of the works of the creative camp of the Kecskemét Steel Sculptural and Fine Arts Symposium has opened in the gallery of the Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Centre in Helsinki. In addition to the pieces exhibited, the exhibition – open until 28 March – is enhanced by a number of cultural events, including concerts and literary evenings.

At the opening ceremony, participants were welcomed by Helga Kovács-Sárközi, Director of the Liszt Institute, and István Árvai, Curator of the K-ARTS Art Foundation and head of the creative workshop. Afterwards, art historian Katalin T. Nagy delivered a speech introducing the artists and the works, and also praising the significance of the Kecskemét creative camp. Gyula Majoros made the opening ceremony experience complete with a musical performance.

The event was attended by the deputy head of the Hungarian embassy, a head of the consular office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomats from several foreign embassies, local Hungarians, university students, artists, art historians, art writers, musicians, and local art patrons. The multicultural environment saw several useful meetings and discussions held with Finnish, Iranian, Estonian artists, the staff of the Contemporary Art Centre, local art historians, in addition to official diplomatic meetings, to support the further functioning and reputation of the camp. 

The exhibition will be on display until 28 March and will be accompanied by a series of events: free guided tours, literary evenings and even concerts and workshops among the special installations.
