KÉSZ Group Szeged Youth Development Project launched successfully in 2021
The KÉSZ GROUP Szeged Youth Development Project is building consciously to implement a training system based on Western models, aiming to catch up the region's youth football generations. Currently, the club boasts 48 registered child footballers in the U7, U9, and U11 age groups.
In 2021, the Dél-Alföld a Sportért Egyesület (Association for Sports in the Southern Great Plain) launched the KÉSZ GROUP Szeged Utánpótlás (KÉSZ GROUP Youth Development) Project to address the lack of organisation, expertise, and cooperation in youth development.
According to the founders' philosophy, collaboration and expertise can lead to exceptional developments in the field of sports. The goal was to establish a regional youth development structure based in Szeged that, over the long term, would rely on top-tier international expertise. Through collaboration with various youth development organisations within this structure, the programme aims to widely ensure the optimal individual growth of children. Another advantage of the project is that it can significantly contribute to the Szeged region producing international-level professional players, national team players, and even a locally trained adult NB1 team.
Given this, the KÉSZ GROUP Szeged Utánpótlás project has the potential to greatly influence the local community, boost Szeged’s reputation, and inspire further development programmes.
The beginnings
The Association began its activities in the field of adult small-sided football in 2018. The Szeged Small-Sided Football Championship, which started with 20 teams, became the city's largest and most prestigious league by 2019, expanding to 32 teams across three divisions. Today, it has grown to include 61 teams competing in six divisions, with over 1,000 registered amateur players. In the summer of 2021, the Association also launched a youth development programme named KÉSZ GROUP Szeged Utánpótlás.
The goal of the project is to establish a Western-style training system in Szeged that will elevate the region's emerging football generations to the level of international elite. Currently, the club boasts 48 registered child footballers in the U7, U9, and U11 age groups.
The present
The youth teams of KÉSZ GROUP Szeged Utánpótlás wrapped up a busy spring season. In addition to regular weekly training sessions, the children participated in Bozsik tournaments on weekends and tested their skills in the Algyő Children's Football League.
As the highlight of the spring season, they had the tremendous experience of attending the Mol Hungarian Cup final at the Puskás Ferenc Stadium, thanks to the MLSZ and KÉSZ GROUP Szeged Utánpótlás.
The spring season concluded in mid-June. The season ends with the traditional children-parents-staff football match, where the children can take revenge on the parents and coaches. The event concludes with a motivating award ceremony.
To ensure that the summer remains eventful, they also organise a week-long summer football camp each year. Here, naturally, the focus is on football, with the aim of strengthening commitment to the sport and team unity.
