A new era is about to start in Salgótarján: the city's first STOP SHOP retail park is being built
Salgótarján is entering a new chapter: construction has begun on the region's newest STOP SHOP retail park in the city center, next to Lidl. The project, developed by CPI Hungary, will not only bring new shopping opportunities to the county capital of Nógrád, but also a modern, sustainable, and community-friendly environment.
The building, covering more than 7,500 square meters, will house 12 stores, including well-known brands such as Euronics, dm, Ecofamily, Háda, Retro, and DRK (Dorko). Retro and DRK are opening their first stores in the city, which is a special novelty for the locals. Visitors will enjoy the convenience of a spacious car park, bicycle storage, electric car charging facilities and toilets, making the shopping park easily accessible by car, bicycle or public transport.
Family-friendly design also plays an important role: a playground will be built on the STOP SHOP site, offering pleasant recreation for families, while the parking lots and pedestrian routes are barrier-free, and the spacious areas and green spaces provide a friendly, orderly environment.
The investment is being implemented in line with environmentally friendly principles. The building is being constructed with energy-efficient heating and lighting, low water consumption equipment, sustainable waste management, and renewable energy solutions, ensuring environmentally conscious operation in the long term.
"The STOP SHOP project in Salgótarján was preceded by a long period of preparation and thorough research, so we are particularly pleased that implementation can now begin. This is a significant development for both the city and the region, as excellent tenants are arriving who will bring new life to Salgótarján's commercial scene. We are already looking forward to the opening with great anticipation," said Balázs Sipos, Senior Retail Asset Manager at CPI Hungary.
CPI Hungary's goal is for the STOP SHOP in Salgótarján to be not just a shopping destination, but a new meeting point for the local community. The retail park is expected to create nearly 100 jobs, and the investor, together with KÉSZ Építő és Szerelő Zrt., the company responsible for the construction, is paying special attention to ensuring that local entrepreneurs are also given opportunities during the implementation phase, thereby strengthening the city's economy and community.
The STOP SHOP network currently operates more than 130 units in ten countries. In Hungary, CPI Hungary currently operates 14 STOP SHOPs, with a total retail area of 170,000 square meters and 320 tenants. The Salgótarján investment joins this successful international network, ensuring the usual STOP SHOP quality: easy accessibility, transparent spaces, quick shopping, and a friendly atmosphere.
Construction has already begun, with the opening expected in the first quarter of 2027. With the arrival of the new STOP SHOP, Salgótarján will not only gain a modern shopping park, but also a more livable, greener, and economically stronger urban environment.
